Candy Cane Macarons
Candy Cane Macarons By Annie | Everyday Annie. If you want something a little quicker, a basic vanilla buttercream would do just as well. Or if you are a real mint lover, add a bit of peppermint extract to the frosting to enhance that flavor even more!
Ingredients
For the macaron shells
200 grams confectioners’ sugar
110 grams almonds (blanched, slivered, or sliced)
90 grams egg whites (aged at room temperature for 1 day or 3-5 days in the fridge)
25 grams granulated sugar
For the filling
½ cup sugar
2 large egg whites
12 tbsp. unsalted butter, at room temperature
½ tsp. vanilla extract
For garnish
Crushed candy canes
